Postdoctoral Fellow in Automated Drilling

The University of Stavanger invites applications for a 2 year position as Postdoctoral Fellow in Drilling and Well Technology at the Faculty of Science and Technology in the Department of Petroleum Engineering. The position is vacant from 01.02.2015
The position is funded by Statoil through the Akademia program and the project Automated Drilling/Intelligent Drilling.

Description

The position is in automated drilling. The research work to be carried out will be related to the activities taking place in the “Automatic Drilling Hydraulics Laboratory”. Here the objective is to combine flow modelling with small scale flow loops to demonstrate how one can calibrate models and use these to control the drilling process by use of control engineering algorithms. The candidate must have a PhD within Drilling and Well Technology. It is required that the candidate has experience with flow modelling. It is also an advantage if the candidate has experience with evaluating uncertainty in these processes.

The position is salaried according to the State Salary Code, l.pl 17.510, code 1352, ltr. 58, of NOK 491 400 per annum. In special cases higher salaries may apply.
