Organisation Ophthalmic Research Institute, ZEISS Vision Science Lab in cooperation with: Bethge Lab (www.bccn-tuebingen.de) and Wichmann Lab (www.nip.uni-tuebingen.de).

PostDoc: "Computational Modeling of Natural and Enhanced Dynamic Visual Perception"

Two research teams, Visual Optics and Visual Neuroscience, focus on basic research issues in the context of optical applications. Your work will concentrate on the functionality of the visual system in diverse and dynamic situations in regard to optical applications aimed at achieving natural and enhanced vision.

Job Description:

  • Position as PostDoc (beneficial: experience in the field of Computational Neuroscience as Postdoc)

Responsibilities:

  • Address research issues concerning the influence of artificial optics on the human visual system 
  • Create a model in the fields of visual optics and visual neuroscience
  • Develop and employ the latest computational and statistical approaches to simulate visual perception (e.g. with deep neural networks)
  • The position can be extended to a Team Leader position of Visual Neurocomputation in the ZEISS Vision Science Lab

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A master’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or a related field of expertise 
  • A PhD in Computational Neuroscience 
  • A deep understanding of the literature in the field 
  • High motivation in joining an interdisciplinary basic research field linked to industrial innovation
  • Natural curiosity and creativity and an integrative and cooperative personality
