Postdoctoral Position – HVAC and energy network

EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne), in collaboration with the School of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Applied Sciences and the University of Fribourg, is opening a postdoctoral position for its Fribourg outpost, in the Smart living lab project.

Description of the position

The Building 2050 program aims to outline the building of the future, corresponding to standards of sustainability predictable in 2050. The purpose of the research is firstly to establish a state of the art in this area as well as vision for future trends. On this basis, a set of architectural and technical specifications will be established for the pilot building of the smart living lab, building of dual-purpose, emblematic demonstrator and experimental research infrastructure in housing and building.

Required profile

The candidate is required to have a PhD degree and research experience in building engineering as well as expertise in HVAC, energy network, fluid mechanics, alternative cooling and heating technologies, heat exchangers, seasonal thermal energy storage, radiant systems, energy performance modeling, computational fluid dynamic (CFD) studies.
Candidates must also demonstrate strong affinities for interdisciplinarity, a strong capacity for synthesis and a strong interest in research-practice transfers.

Working conditions

The position is available as of January 2015 and contract is limited to two years. The incumbent will join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team established in Fribourg, and will be in contact with faculty Professors expert in the construction field.
