The Institute for Theoretical Physics UAM-CSIC, Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence, and the Autónoma University of Madrid open three fellowships for exceptional candidates to carry out a PhD thesis at the IFT.

Within its International PhD Programme, "la Caixa" Foundation awards several PhD scholarships to research centers distinguished with the Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence award. This distinction recognizes Spanish world-class institutes in several areas of research. The 2015 call envisages providing full support to three such scholarships at the IFT which is the only Spanish center dedicated entirely to research in Theoretical Physics.
Description

Candidates are expected to carry out a PhD in one of the strategic research lines of the IFT, which include particle phenomenology, astroparticle physics, nuclear theory, string theory, gravitation and cosmology, lattice and quantum field theory, and quantum information theory.

The candidates should have an excellent academic track record, and are expected to hold an academic degree that grants access to a PhD program by September/October 2015.

Successful candidates will be hired as “la Caixa” - Severo Ochoa IFT Fellows, for a period of four years starting September or October 2015. The gross salary will progressively increase from 18.547 € the first year, to 22.559 € the fourth year. An additional budget of 1.500 € per year during the first two years, and 1.700 € per year during the last two years, will be available to cover PhD tuition fees, participation in international conferences, etc. The IFT will also provide funds for visits to other research centers and participation in international events.
