Research Fellow - Biomechanical assessment of mobility and ergonomic functions

A Research Fellow position is available immediately at the Functional Neuroimaging Cognitive Mobility Laboratory, Departments of Radiology and Neurology, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, USA. Our laboratory specializes in clinical, mobility, cognition, and multimodal imaging studies of Parkinson’s disease and is directed by Drs. Nicolaas Bohnen, MD, PhD (Director) and Martijn Muller, PhD (Co-director). We are looking for a post-doctoral candidate to conduct, analyze, and interpret detailed biomechanical mobility assessments in patients with Parkinson’s disease and frail older adults. The applicant will also oversee ergonomic research studies in the field of non-exercise physical activity in patients with mobility problems and healthy adults. This requires leadership and active participation in project management activities including the administration of research projects. Teaching and supervision of (graduate) students may also be required.

Applicants must have completed a graduate degree (PhD) in biomechanical engineering, ergonomics, kinesiology, or have relevant experience. The applicant should be prophicient with spatiotemporal gait and postural studies, signal processing, and statistical analysis tools. Fluency in English and teamwork skills to work in a multidisciplinary environment are important. The post will require initiative and work without close supervision.
