PhD Studentship in Wireless Engineering

University of Liverpool - Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics

Faculty of Science and Engineering

Applications are invited for graduates to join the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the University of Liverpool for a funded three-year PhD studentship to work in Wireless Engineering:

Mobile hand-portable antenna designs (funded by Huawei Devices Co., China)

This studentship is to support a full-time PhD student to undertake research into the hand-portable antennas for the emerging and future mobile radio applications. These antennas will operate at different frequency bands (from about 700 MHz to about 5.5 GHz) and should be of low-profile, low-cost and high efficiency. Both the numerical and experimental approaches will be used during the study. Successful designs may be implemented in products. The student will have opportunities to work at Huawei for a short period of time and a job may be offered at the end of the project.

You are expected to have a BSc/BEng (first or upper second class) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, applied physics, or equivalent. An MSc with Distinction, Merit, or other indicator of excellent performance in relevant areas will be advantageous. The post is expected to begin in February 2015 with a tax free stipend and home fees for £20,000 pa for three years (i.e. it includes both the tuition fees and maintenance) and is available for both home and overseas candidates.

The studentship will cover the tuition fees with maintenance of 3000RMB/month (about £300 per month) for three years and is available for both home and overseas candidates.
