Description
The post doc will be embedded in the Sustainable building research group at the department for Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) in close collaboration with the Energy Systems Group at the Department of Energy and Environment (EE) and the Distributed Computing and Systems Research Group at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The post doc position is part of the currently launched initiative “Energy on Campus” by Chalmers Area of Advance Energy. The purpose of the initiative is to concretize and visualize Chalmers' vision "Chalmers - For a sustainable future" by using the buildings and infrastructure of the campus as an open arena for energy solutions in an urban environment. The aim of the initiative is to form an umbrella under which new campus projects can be initiated and developed. In this regard the aim of the post doc position is to provide a first comprehensive assessment of an existing building complex and to identify robust trajectories toward a more energy efficient and less carbon emitting building complex. The focus is to understand the role of the buildings in relation to different types of energy carriers (heating, cooling and electricity), including on-site and surrounding energy supplying systems considering their availability over the entire year.
