Dairy Scientist - Process Engineering - (Ref: DSPE / MP / 1114)

BASIC FUNCTION:
Candidates should have an understanding of the engineering principles behind the separation, thermal and dehydration processes used in the dairy industry. The successful candidate will conduct a research programme with a particular focus on the identification and exploitation of process engineering principles with other subject matter experts / scientists working in this area (nationally and internationally). Knowledge of separation technologies and in particular membrane processing is essential to the role. An understanding of the parameters used during manufacture of dairy ingredients and end use applications such as nutritional beverages is required.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Leading and managing research projects in the area of process engineering with particular reference to development of new processes for the dairy ingredients and infant formula sectors 
•Management of staff and resources assigned to the programme
•Contributing to and actively engaging in strategic planning within the Food Programme
Person Specification

Essential
Candidates must have an honours Level 8 university degree in Food Science & Technology / Process Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.

Desirable
A PhD degree and/or research/ industrial experience in process engineering & design would be a distinct advantage
