Postdoctoral Fellow Position – Security of Supply and Resilience (75%)

ETH Zurich is one of the leading universities of the world with a strong focus on science and engineering. In 2011 it established the Singapore-ETH Centre (SEC) in collaboration with the National research Foundation (NRF) of Singapore to do interdisciplinary research on pressing problems. In collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and Singapore Management University (SMU), SEC is undertaking a research programme on “Future Resilient Systems”, providing an opportunity for about 40 PhD students and 25 PostDoc researchers to get a PhD degree and/or to strengthen their research skills in an inspiring cross-disciplinary research environment. Within this framework the NSU is announcing the following job opening. Workplace is Singapore.

Postdoctoral Fellow Position – Security of Supply and Resilience (75%)

This project develops a holistic perspective on the various aspects of security of energy supply and resilience of energy systems by coupling multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) with the application of resilience indices to typical planning problems, including uncertainty analysis for long-term energy planning, exemplified by dedicated case studies. In this way it can be ensured that state-of-the-art scientific analyses and developments can be made available to decision and policy makers.

The successful candidate has a PhD degree in an Engineering and/or Decision Science discipline (e.g. Civil, Industrial, Operations Research,Systems), or other relevant discipline like Computer Science. Good research background; strong analytical and operations research skills are a plus, so are good experience with relevant programming language and exposure to reliability and maintenance optimization. We expect good scientific writing skills (English).
