Functions
As a technician in electronics in the beam intensity and position section, your task will be to build, install and maintain beam intensity and position monitoring systems in all of CERN's accelerators and you will:
Design analogue and digital electronic circuits.
Perform design and layout of printed circuit boards.
Program micro-controllers and Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA).
Produce and test prototypes, including their mechanical components.
Install, commission and maintain electronic systems and their related detectors in the accelerators.
Qualification required
Higher technical diploma in the field of Electronics, or equivalent.
*Please note that preference will be given to candidates with the above-mentioned qualifications: In principle consideration will not be given to applications from people with higher qualifications.
Experience and competencies
The experience required for this post is:
Demonstrated experience as a technician in the field of electronics.
The technical competencies required for this post are:
Design of electronics for analogue sensors and transducers.
Design of digital signal conditioning and processing electronics.
Circuit layout, including related techniques and tools.
Design of electronics based on field programmable logic-based devices (FPGA).
Application of instrumentation and measurement techniques.
The behavioural competencies required for this post are:
Achieving results: Delivering high quality work on time and fulfilling expectations.
Working in teams: Building and maintaining constructive and effective work relationships.
Managing self: Working well autonomously; taking on activities and tasks without prompting.
The language competencies required are:
English or French: spoken and written. The ability to understand and speak the other language in routine situations.
