Description

In Varkaus, Lappeenranta University of Technology operates in a regional unit researching phenomena related to green energy and technology, as well as sustainable technology solutions. The themes of the regional unit research include forest based industries, energy technologies, automation and machine manufacturing. The research unit is located in the campus area of Savonia University of Applied Sciences.

We are now applying for

a new Doctoral Student

to our research group.

The Doctoral Student works in the Efficient Energy Use project co-operating with the Savonia University of Applied Sciences in the research applying the pilot-scale combustion facility. The Doctoral Student participates in the compiling of the trial run program, trial run realization and scientific reporting.

Research with the pilot-scale combustion facility serves mainly the local companies, being partly research services and partly research financed with project funding. The themes include for example the combustion of waste and pyrolysis oil and the analytics of emissions and ashes, as well as other special issues related to the former mentioned combustion. The replacement of heavy fuel oil with fuels with lower emissions (e.g. pyrolysis oil) is an interesting theme wherein one possible research question could be: How to develop the current boiler designed for the combustion of heavy fuel oil to minimize the deposit formation and corrosion effects of bio oil combustion.
