Postdoc Position in Wireless Networking

Job description

The recently established Centre for Wireless and Sensor Systems  (WiSe) is seeking qualified candidates for a postdoc position in Wireless Networking. WiSe aims its research at wireless networked systems for sensing and control. In particular, our research is focused on wireless networking for very demanding application areas, such as vehicular networking for intelligent transportation systems. Research usually takes place in the context of international cooperation, targeting publications in high-quality conferences and journals.

The postdoc is expected to be active in all or most of the following areas:

  • research on wireless and vehicular networking,
  • involvement in supervision of ph.d.- and m.sc.-students in the group,
  • defining new research projects and writing project proposals,
  • contributions to teaching of (wireless) networking courses.

The exact role and research direction also depends on the skills and ambition of the candidate.

Requirements

You have a Ph.D.-degree in a relevant field, such as computer science or electrical engineering. You have thorough knowledge of networking and wireless communications, combined with skills on analytical and/or simulation-based modeling of communication networks. You like to work with a team of researchers to jointly address research challenges, and possess good communicative skills for collaboration with our (industrial and academic) partners. You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Working conditions

We offer a very challenging position in an inspiring environment. You will be appointed in a full-time position in the group Design and Analysis of Communication Systems (DACS) for a period of at least two years (38 hours a week). The salary depends on your experience and will start with a gross salary of at least € 2919,– per month in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities. The University of Twente offers additional attractive employment conditions. In addition to this, we offer a holiday allowance (amounts to 8%), an end-of-year bonus (amounts to 8.3%), various sporting and cultural facilities at reduced rate, medical insurance at a reduced rate etc.
