IBEC is seeking outstanding, highly motivated candidates for new Group Leader position(s) in its Biomaterials, implants and tissue engineering research lines
The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) is a cutting-edge research centre based in Barcelona. IBEC develops interdisciplinary research of excellence, from basic research to medical applications, in the biomedical engineering and nanomedicine fields.
Description
Expected research focuses could include (but are not limited to):
• Bioactive biomaterials and biointerfaces that simulate the cellular microenvironment at micro and nanoscale;
• Functional Biomaterials and advance manufacturing (3D scaffolds);
• Decellularized tissue scaffolds;
• 3D tissue models for clinical applications (GMP production);
• Synthetic and Biological matrices for tissue engineering and transplant development
Applicants will be expected to develop an independent research group and contribute to one or more of IBEC’s core application areas and be involved in collaborations with clinicians.
To qualify for a Group Leader position, candidates should hold a PhD/MD degree and a proven record of achievements in their research field. Applicants who currently lead their own group in a University or other research organization are welcome to apply. Desirable competencies and skills are: Leadership; international reputation; critical judgment in the identification and execution
of research activities; strategic vision on the future of the research field; proven record in securing significant research funding / budgets / resources; team building and collaboration;
excellent communication and networking skills.
IBEC’s Group Leaders are appointed for an initial 4-year period, with the possibility to extend their appointment after scientific
evaluation by the International Scientific Committee (ISC) every 4 years.
