Researcher / postdoctoral position

KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm is the largest and oldest technical university in Sweden. No less than one-third of Sweden’s technical research and engineering education capacity at university level is provided by KTH. Education and research spans from natural sciences to all branches of engineering and includes Architecture, Industrial Management and Urban Planning. KTH Architecture and Built Environment focuses on future of our societies, on how our cities, buildings and infrastructure should be designed. We study growth, technology and environment, as well as ethical considerations and risks. Our curriculum and our research are based on several academic disciplines: Engineering and the Technical sciences, the Humanities, and the Social sciences.

Duties

KTH Architecture and the Built Environment is hiring a researcher/postdoc in the field of multi-agent transport simulations.

The position is funded for up to two years through the European SMART-PT (“Smart Public Transport”) project, which studies demand-adaptive public transport systems. The project focuses on urban-scale multi-agent simulations and also includes an interactive “gaming simulation” component. KTH focuses on a Stockholm case study, in which the candidate is responsible for scientific and technical work as well as for daily project management.

Eligibility and assessment criteria

The candidate holds a doctoral degree in a relevant field or has an otherwise demonstrated relevant skill level. Fluency in the Java programming language is required, and a background in transport modeling and/or multi-agent simulation is desirable. The candidate is in good command of written and spoken English and is motivated to produce outstanding scientific work.
