Postdoctoral Researcher in Organic Electronics / Thermoelectrics

A postdoctoral research position will be available at the Department of Science and Technology (ITN), Linköping University (Campus Norrköping), Sweden starting in winter/spring 2015. The postdoctoral fellow will be a member of the Laboratory of Organic Electronics, http://fe.itn.liu.se/orgel. The research staff of the Laboratory currently consists of 6 faculty members, 14 postdocs, and 17 Ph.D. students. Research areas include Printed electronics, Organic bioelectronics, Organic solid state devices, Organic Photonics and Theory and modelling. The Laboratory of Organic Electronics is one of the world leading laboratories in that field of research.

Background and duties:

Among all organic materials, conducting polymers, have become the material of choice for many electronic and thermoelectric applications. Despite of the significant experimental activity in the field, many of the aspects of the fundamental of charge dynamics in these materials remain poorly understood and the interpretation of many experiments remains highly controversial. The aim of the research project will be to investigate the origin of the thermoelectric properties in those materials, as well as design and fabricate new efficient materials and thermoelectric devices. The present fellowship is supported by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation via the collaborative project ”Tail of the Sun” addressing the energy harvesting in the energy interval outside the visible spectrum. The ”Tail of the Sun” gathered several research teams from Linköping University, and a close collaboration between the teams as well as an interaction between the theory and experiment are expected.

Qualifications:

The applicant must have, or be about to receive a doctoral degree in a subject relevant to the research project (e.g. physics, applied physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, etc.) and need to be passionate about research. Problem solving ability and creativity, as well as the ability to work independently are essential. .

Appointment:

Initially for one year with possibility of extension for a second year depending on mutual agreement and performance. Starting time is winter/spring 2015. The fellowship amounts to SEK25000:-/month (tax-free) (~€2500/month).

Application procedure:

The application should be sent electronically to  Xavier Crispin (xavier.crispin<στο>liu.se) with a subject line “postdoc (Tail of the Sun)”. The application should include a cover letter, a CV (with names of three references), a publication list, a list of undergraduate courses and their marks, and other documents you may wish to refer to. (All abovementioned documents should be preferentially sent as a single pdf-file). In addition, maximum of three selected publications can be enclosed with the application.
