Background: The Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification (CAHID) in collaboration with the Concrete Technology Unit and the Imaging Consortium at the University of Dundee and the Centre for Forensic Science at the University of Strathclyde have received funding from the Carnegie Trust for a1 year PDRA
position to develop mathematical algorithms for the interpretation of micro CT data derived from forensically relevant samples.

Purpose of Post: To research, devise, develop, implement and exploit a series of mathematical algorithms to extract, characterise and model the cut marks in
bone imaged using micro-CT. A variety of bones and cutting implements will be used to build a ground truth data base with associated variants and inference engine. The derived models and statistical analysis will be used to explore predictive capabilities from subsequent marks made on bone in randomised trials.

Candidates must have the ability to work independently, following clear guidelines and procedures.

Principal Duties:
• Working with staff and graduate students to develop SOPs for imaging using a large stage micro-CT scanner.
• Researching, devising, developing, implementing and exploiting of algorithms for deriving and analysing data from CT scans of bones and construction materials test samples.
• Presentation of results and data in regular progress meetings
• Preparation of follow on funding applications
• Preparation of research papers and presentations
