The Center for Environmental and System Biochemistry (CESB) seeks postdoctoral scholars with appropriate experience in biochemical modeling with an interest or experience in metabolomics.

Description

The Center for Environmental and System Biochemistry (CESB) seeks  postdoctoral scholars with appropriate experience in biochemical modeling with an interest or experience in metabolomics. Our group carries out translational research in several cancers from a systems biochemistry perspective using stable isotope tracer methods. You will develop computer programs to simulate and analyze dynamic metabolic networks that trace atoms from source molecules through metabolic transformations. Familiarity with isotopomer/isotopologue analysis in metabolomics is essential.  You will also be responsible for some systems administration in the Center. In addition, you will assist in translating isotopomer distributions into manuscripts, presentations, reports and as needed grant proposals, including those for career development. The position requires a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject. A good knowledge of biochemistry and biochemical dynamics is necessary. Applicants interested in learning how to integrate  MS with NMR is also desirable.

The initial period for this appointment will be for 1 year,  following a six month probationary period, and is renewable up to four years based on satisfactory performance.

The CESB Group occupies over 7000 sq. ft. of new laboratory and office space in the fifth floor of the Biopharm Complex and 1250 sq. ft. on the 4th floor of the Roach Building, which is dedicated space for the Markey Cancer Center.

As a postdoctoral scholar, you are eligible for University health benefits and you will be entitled to fifteen (15) working days of vacation in addition to the holidays observed by the university staff.  For a description of your eligibility for other University benefits, please consult the UK Administrative Regulations, AR II-4.0-1, available on the UK web site.

As a postdoctoral scholar, you will be subject to all applicable University policies, including the policies and procedures governing Patent and Tangible Research Property.  For these policies, please refer to UK Administration Regulation II.1.13 and the UK Governing Regulations, Conditions of Employment, Intellectual Property, which are available on the UK Web site.
