PhD studentship - Investigation of extra-terrestrial construction processes using Additive Manufacturing techniques

Approximate stipend of £13,863

This cross-disciplinary research project will focus on investigating and developing innovative methods for extra-terrestrial construction processes using Additive Manufacturing (AM) techniques. You will be registered for a full-time PhD degree at the Open University in Milton Keynes (UK). This work will involve visits to NASA AMES Research Centre (CA, USA) for collaborative work with NASA colleagues. You will be supervised by Dr Sungwoo Lim (E&I, OU) and Dr Mahesh Anand (DPS, OU).

You will have a first class or upper second-class MSc degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, which may include Engineering, Construction or Planetary Science. Any previous experience in using 3D Printing, CNC/robotic programming or lunar simulant would be an advantage.
