Project Title: Next Generation Imaging Technologies for Smartphones

Supervisors: Dr. Peter Corcoran (electronic Engineering) or Dr. Nicholas Devaney (Physics)

Duration: Funded for 4 years (Structured PhD), full-time. 6 PhD Positions.

Project description: A range of project topics are available in the general fields of Computational Imaging and Applied Optics. Research is closely aligned with emerging technology roadmaps for Industry and successful candidates will work closely with engineering teams from FotoNation, a World-Leading supplier of Imaging solutions for smartphones and digital cameras.

Topics include: Advanced Biometrics; Super-resolution; Hybrid Visible/NIR Optics & Imaging; Optical Design for Smartphone Cameras; Multi-frame Imaging; Hardware Imaging Primitives; Wide-Field of View Optics & Imaging; Advanced Facial Models; Adaptive Object Tracking.

Stipend: SFI stipend €18,000 per annum plus fees for 4 years.

Entry Requirements: Research Masters preferred but Excellent Primary Degree with suitable project work may be suitable.
