Postdoctoral Scientist - Nanospectroscopy for Energy Material Design and Optimization

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Scientific Division Solar Energy Research is seeking for the Institute Nanospectroscopy for Design and Optimization of Energy-Relevant Materials a postdoc scientist (f/m) (PhD in the field of Physics, Chemistry, Material Science or a related discipline).

Assignments:
The mission of the new Institute Nanospectroscopy for Energy Material Design and Optimization at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie GmbH is the design and development of novel, nanostructured and hybrid materials for energy relevant technologies such as photovoltaics, solar fuels, hydrogen storage, thermoelectrics etc. The successful candidate will establish nanocrystal and nanorod solution-based synthesis facilities and conduct nanocrystal and nanorod synthesis and characterization research as part of a multidisciplinary team. The characterization will include various lab based techniques, and synchrotron-based x-ray methods, mostly at the Engergy Materials In-situ Lab (EMIL). Samples preparation will include also thin film desposition by PVD, CVD, ALD and other techniques.
The EMIL facility will be operated 24/7 and the candidate is expected to contribute to an uninterrupted round-the-clock operation of the facility.
