MSc Research Studentships - Novel Hydrokinetics for Renewable Energy Generation (x2)

Lancaster University - Engineering Department

Applications are invited for two fully-funded MSc by Research Studentships in the Engineering Department at Lancaster University

MSc by Research on Novel Hydrokinetics for renewable energy generation

There is an exciting opportunity for two fully-funded 12 month MSc by Research Studentships in the Engineering Department at Lancaster University Renewable Energy Group (LUREG) on a Novel and Environmentally Friendly Hydrokinetics Research Project.

LUREG main research area is in computational and experimental modelling and the economics of novel fluid machinery applied to energy and renewables, including hydro power. LUREG research has international recognition for its prowess and particular influence on hydro renewables. This project would be to investigate and develop a unique form of hydrokinetic power generation which focusses on environmental and ecological improvements.

Lancaster University is ranked 8th overall in the Guardian and 11th for Engineering in the Complete University Guide for 2015. The Lancaster campus is in an outstanding part of the United Kingdom, close to several national parks and with good transport links to London and international airports.

These projects are fully funded for candidates from the UK and the European Union and are due to start in January 2015, subject to contract.

The students would work as a team initially, specializing later in the project to be able to produce their own unique theses.

The opportunities for permanent employment with the industrial supervisor’s organisation after completion of this project are very high for the right candidates. This will enable the candidates to guide and shape new technology from conception to commercial installations.

Candidates should have a degree in Engineering or a related science discipline (upper second class honours or above).

The supervisors on these projects will be Dr George Aggidis, Director Lancaster University Renewable Energy Group & Fluid Machinery Group, Engineering Department and a NW based industrial supervisor. Enquiries should be addressed to g.aggidis<στο>lancaster.ac.uk

Please send a CV and two references to Mrs Deborah Craine at egadmissions<στο>lancaster.ac.uk.
