Post Doc position in Arctic Technology

NTNU (UNIS) announces for a Post Doc within Arctic Marine Technology to strengthen its activities and to increase the UNIS-NTNU collaboration. The candidate is to be employed at NTNU, but live and work in Longyearbyen (www.unis.no).

Description

The candidate should also have an office-space at NTNU. Sea ice and icebergs are two of the most important challenges in an Arctic Marine environment and the technological development needs to take this into account. The candidate should have a PhD, have competence and carry out research in one or more of the following topics: Ice management, Instrumentation and on-line estimation of environmental and structural variables and parameters, Ice actions and dynamics on fixed and floating structures, Automatic motion control systems for floating offshore structures, Sensor fusion, Stationkeeping manoeuvring strategies in drifting and reversing sea ice, Robust fleet communication and data exchange systems for remote operations in the Arctic marine environment. Experience from Arctic field work is an advantage. The candidate is expected to have a close collaboration also with relevant groups at NTNU promoting increased collaboration. Conditions of appointment:
The period of employment for this temporary position is 2 years.
The position is remunerated according to the Norwegian State salary scale. Post-doctoral Fellows are normally remunerated at wage level 57 in the State salary scale, gross NOK 482 500 per year (before tax). There will be a 2 % deduction to The Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund from gross salary. Engagement as a post doctor is done in accordance with “Regulation concerning terms and conditions of employment for the posts of post-doctoral research fellow, research fellow, research assistant and resident”, given by the Ministry of Education and Research of 19.07.2010.

The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants. The position adheres to the Norwegian Government’s policy of balanced ethnicity, age and gender. Persons with immigrant background and women are encouraged to apply.
