Scientific Officer - Molecular Imaging

JOB DESCRIPTION

The CRUK Cancer Imaging Centre is focused on the development of quantitative imaging biomarkers for the assessment of drugs mechanisms, disease heterogeneity, and therapy response, using a wide range of imaging techniques. The Pre-Clinical Molecular Imaging group is currently being established under Dr Gabriela Kramer-Marek between the Division of Radiotherapy and Imaging & Division of Cancer Therapeutics.

We are currently looking for an In Vivo Imaging Specialist to support the pre-clinical radiopharmaceutical imaging facility by developing and applying innovative imaging approaches to evaluate new anti-cancer drugs in animal cancer models. The post requires involvement in day-to-day support of PET, SPECT and CT components of pre-clinical scanners as well as development and validation of novel imaging measurement and analysis technologies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up experiments, for analysis and interpretation of data as well as providing training, supervision and support for other facility users. The applicant should have experience in theoretical and practical aspects of relevant functional in vivo imaging technologies and be familiar with image analysis software. He/she should have a background in radiation physics and image analysis or similar. Previous experience with maintenance and calibration of imaging systems is desirable.

We expect the candidate to be well-organized, work independently, and possess a strong ability to solve methodological problems. The key selection criterion will be the motivation of the candidate and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team to support research with a high level of intellectual creativity, persistence and dedication.
