The Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management presently employs 95 positions including Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Researchers, Post Doctors and Ph.D.-candidates. The department is organized into four sections:
Managerial Economics, Finance and Operations Research
Safety, Health and Environment (HMS)
Operations Management
Strategy and Business Development
The PhD Candidate will be part of Section for Managerial Economics, Finance and Operations Research, which has a large and active research group within optimization in maritime transportation. This group is a member of the GEMINI Centre in Maritime Logistics and is involved in several ongoing research projects with PhD students.

Qualifications
The available position is an Excellence Position funded by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. The applicant must have a proper background in Operations Research, some computer programming skills, and an interest to learn about maritime transportation. It is required with a completed master’s degree with a good result, or education to equivalent level. Applicants who are in the process of finalizing their master’s degree can also apply and can be given the position under the condition of satisfactory results on their remaining exams.
Applicants will be ranked based on an assessment of their formal competence and potential. Since the position includes one year’s work for the department, such as teaching, supervision of master students and student projects’ guidance and evaluation, it will be considered beneficial to master Norwegian (or any other Nordic language). Fluent English skills are required. Personal qualifications will be ascribed high importance.
Employment will be activated in accordance to existing regulations of 31.01.2006 with NTNUs supplementary purviews of 17.06.2009. The applicant must commit to join organized PhD-studies within the employment period. At a later stage a contract of employment schedule will be made.

Salary and Working Conditions
The PhD Candidate is paid according to salary level 50 in the national salary scheme, gross NOK 35 066,70 annually, of which 2 % is deducted for the State Pension Scheme.
The appointment is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants. The employee is expected to accept possible changes in work tasks. Primary residency in Trondheim is a prerequisite.
