ALTA: atmospheric automatic forecast system

The scientific activity will be centered on the participation to the project ALTA aiming at implementing an automatic system for forecasts of the atmospherical parameters and the optical turbulence at the site of the Large Binocular Telescope. The main scientific goals are: (1) installation of the hardware and software; (2) complete implementation of the automatic system for the forecasts; (3) validation of the model performances; (4) collaboration with in the scientific activity of the research group of the "Optical Turbulence" in the Arcetri Astrophysical Observatory

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must posses:

• PhD degree in Astronomy or Physics or Engineer or Applied Mathematics awarded by an Italian or by a foreign University

• Degree in Astronomy or Physics or Engineer or Applied Mathematics which would formally entitle to the ammission to a doctorate, awarded by an Italian or by a foreign University together with at least three years of successive documented experience in scientific activities

• A good knowledge of the English language

Selection will be done by evaluation of qualifications and possibly by oral interview
