The Doctoral Programme in Architecture & Technology is oriented toward the training of scholars in the field of engineering, science and technology in architecture, with a focus on architecture, building engineering and technology.

Doctoral Programme in Architecture & Technology

The fellowships provide funding for three years, with an option to extend. The Brutto stipend is CHF 47‘040.- CHF 48‘540.- and CHF 50‘040.- for the first, second and third year of the PhD, respectively, plus social benefits. (Note that these are estimations for 2015.)

We are looking for excellent young researchers with a background in engineering and technology, as well as architects with experience in research and with an interest in relating building technology or engineering to the building practice. Suitable candidates hold a diploma or Master’s degree acquired at university level (equivalent to the FHEQ-Level 7) in architecture, engineering or related fields.

Applicants should include (1) a letter of motivation, stating their future career intentions, reasons for wanting to pursue a Doctorate in Architecture & Technology at ETH Zurich, arguments why they would be a good candidate and how their background has prepared them for doctoral studies; and (2) a (maximum) three-page research statement, including a) the identification of their main research field(s) or topic(s) of interest, b) a summary and outline of their research proposal, and c) preferred Professorship at ITA. Additionally, applicants are requested to send an (academic/long) curriculum vitae, including a publication list, a portfolio or related work samples (please, provide a link in your application where bigger files can be downloaded from), and 3 letters of recommendation.
