BBSRC & MRC Doctoral Training Partnership Studentships 2015

The University of Manchester is one of the largest and most successful centres for biological, medical and health focused research and training in Europe. Researchers span the Faculties of Life Sciences, Medical and Human Sciences and Engineering and Physical Sciences.

Our BBSRC and MRC Doctoral Training Partnership schemes represent flagship PhD training aimed at developing the next generation of outstanding researchers across the biological and medical sciences. Our DTP students play pivotal roles in the scientific outputs and health interventions of their host groups, and benefit from wider career enhancing activities such as placements, public engagement opportunities and networking events. Our BBSRC and MRC PhD community currently extends to over 150 students.

The Manchester BBSRC and MRC DTP schemes are looking to recruit between 30-40 students for September 2015. These fully-funded studentships are available in a range of academic disciplines and provide funding for fees, stipend and training support at Research Council rates. Projects will be supervised by an inter-disciplinary team of academic staff.

Both schemes provide students with excellent cross-disciplinary research training in line with the Research Councils strategy for skills support in key areas of the bio-health sciences.

We are now accepting applications for our 2015 studentships. These 3.5-4 year fully-funded studentship opportunities are available in a range of academic disciplines, commencing in September/October 2015. Applicants must be from within the UK or EU and be expected to hold (or be due to achieve) at least a 2:1 honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject. A Masters qualification in a related area would be beneficial.
