PhD Scholarship at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

University of Cambridge - School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering

A fully funded Ph.D. student position is available at School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at Nanyang Technological University under the Cambridge Centre for Carbon Reduction in Chemical Technology (C4T) research programme – a joint research programme between Singapore and University of Cambridge (UK). The successful candidate, under the supervision of Prof Kunn Hadinoto Ong and Prof Markus Kraft, will conduct research on computational fluid dynamic (CFD) modeling of turbulent gas-solid flow in fluidized bed using the two-fluid model approach based on kinetic theory of granular flow. A generous monthly stipend aligned with university standards will be provided for a period of 4 years.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field from reputable universities
  2. Strong interest in CFD and strong fundamentals in transport phenomena and reaction engineering. Previous research experiences in CFD modelling of turbulent multiphase flows are highly beneficial
  3. Strong oral and written communication skills in English

Applicants must satisfy entrance requirements into graduate programs in NTU (Link). The successful candidate is expected to commence in January 2015 semester or August 2015.
