Fully Funded PhD Studentship in the Use of Big Data in Event Studies

Bournemouth University - School of Tourism

The School of Tourism is one of the world’s largest centres for broad interdisciplinary research in Tourism, Events, Hospitality, Leisure, Sport and Retailing. The School is seeking to award one or more Scholarships in 2015 for full-time PhD study on Events Studies. The Scholarships will be awarded competitively and will comprise a stipend of £13,863 per annum, a fee waiver (i.e. no fee) and a contribution towards the research costs of undertaking the PhD. Candidates may suggest any topic in their proposal which spans the topic of Big Data in Event research. We particularly welcome candidates from any disciplinary background who have the quantitative and analytical background for Big Data research (such as computing, statistics, engineering or a highly quantitative subject), who wish to examine the issue of Big Data within an events setting in conjunction with Bournemouth University’s newly formed Data Science Institute. Candidates do not need a background in Events research to be considered for the PhD Studentship since we are looking for analytical expertise rather than the subject-specific skills.
