PhD position in computer vision – image synthesis from sketches

Position: We have an opening for a PhD position in computer vision, with a focus on cutting edge research in image synthesis from sketches. Research topics for this position may include, but are not limited to, image retrieval, matching and alignment, image parsing (detection, segmentation and classification), 3D object reconstruction, and realistic image rendering. Research will be performed in the Computer Vision Group at the University of Bern. The position is available from January 1st, 2015.

Your profile: We are looking for a highly motivated candidate, who is eager to get involved in cutting edge, creative research. You hold a Master of Science in Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering, with a solid background in computer vision and machine learning. You have excellent skills in applied mathematics, in probability theory, and a programming languange  (e.g., Matlab, C, C++). Experience in OpenCL, CUDA/GPU programming are a plus. We expect fluent communication skills in English.

This project will be carried out in collaboration with the Computer Graphics Group at the University of Bern led by Prof Matthias Zwicker.
