POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER / DOCTORAL CANDIDATE

In Logistics Research Group (www.lrg.aalto.fi) at the Aalto University School of Science, Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, is starting a research project on supplier innovation management.  The research project focuses on how a company can identify, forward and utilize the innovations in the supplier base. The research particularly focuses on two areas of supplier management: How the suppliers’ innovation activities can be stimulated and how they can be used to improve the buyer’s competitiveness. The research takes the viewpoint of the purchasing process of the company. The project provides information about the means and mechanisms that can stimulate and speed up supplier innovations and integrate the mechanisms into the product development process. The research will study the needs and systematical ways to search innovations in the supplier base and evaluate them.

Postdoctoral researcher (or doctoral student) for a full time 1 to 2-year period

The postdoctoral researcher is responsible for a literature study and empirical data collection from participating companies and analyzing the data. The role of the postdoctoral researcher / doctoral student is, together with the research group, 1) plan the empirical research and the literature review so that the research enables high-quality scientific results 2) conduct the data collection and analysis 3) write scientific articles. The research project also aims to provide and present practical results for the use of Finnish companies, particularly those funding the project.

The job will start in January 2015.

Salary: The salary is determined according to the salary system of Aalto University.
