Postdoctoral Researchers at the Quantum Nanomechanics group, Aalto University, Finland (2015)

The Quantum Nanomechanics group at the Department of Applied Physics, Aalto University, Finland, is looking for

POSTDOCTORAL SCIENTISTS

to work on electromechanical quantum coherent systems under the ERC project CAVITYQPD. The positions are filled and the work can start as soon as suitable candidates are found, but no later than 1.4.2015.

We experimentally investigate the coupling of superconducting quantum bits and cavities to micromechanical resonators near the quantum ground state of the mechanical degrees of freedom. These studies shed light on the quantum behavior of nearly macroscopic objects, as well as might provide a platform for long-lived quantum memory and bus for superconducting qubits.

Main tasks and requirements
The postdoctoral scientist will be responsible for the development and measurement of integrated electromechanical quantum chips based the transmon qubit in circuit QED architecture, and micromechanical resonators made with aluminum or silicon nitride membranes. For these challenging experiments, we are looking for outstanding candidates who are motivated in experimental, low-temperature solid state physics. We require the candidates to have a proven track record in quantum nanophysics, clean room techniques, and strong interest in micromechanical systems. In addition, the candidates should have expertise in modern cryogenic systems.

Application deadline is October 31, 2014
