PostDoc - Pharmaceutical Process Engineering

JOB DESCRIPTION

Post-Doctoral Researcher in Pharmaceutical Process Engineering: Pforzheim and Karlsruhe, Germany

The open position is embedded in a consortium funded by the European Commission under the Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions "Industry academia Partnerships and Pathways” (MSCA-IAPP 2012) in the period April 2013 to March 2017. The mission of the project “Decent AID” is to develop novel drug delivery systems (DDS) produced by centrifugal technologies which are composed to minimize adverse immune reactions and designed for optimised therapeutic effects. The consortium consists of 3 highly ranked European universities and an innovative pharmaceutical SME. The company ABNOBA GmbH is the project coordinator and intends to recruit a post-doctoral fellow together with its partner institution, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

Task description
Research and development are focused on novel DDS for complex and biogenic active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). A novel batch procedure for DDS production has been established, is currently optimized, and needs to be transferred to a continuous process. The production technologies of the DDS are developed in a team of experienced and early stage process engineers, while the quality and suitability of the DDS is characterized together with immunologists and pharmacists within the consortium.

Benefits
We offer a multidisciplinary research environment bridging both industrial and academic research on international level and comprising the full value chain from drug formulation technologies to pre-clinical studies for their validation. We actively support training of the German language and integration into the professional environment of pharmaceutical industries.

Employment contract:
A temporary employment is offered for 24 months with an annual gros salary of 52,000 to 56,000 EUR/year, depending on civil status and the regulation given by the Grant Agreement of FP7.

Technological objectives:
1. Production of API loaded DDS ready for pre-clinical testing
2. Establishment of production technologies ready for industrial scale-up.

Working locations
Research will take place both at the premises of ABNOBA GmbH, Pforzheim, and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Karlsruhe.
