PhD High capacity chromatographic fractionation

This PhD position is part of a larger project, funded by the Institute for Sustainable Process Technology (ISPT) Project description The objective of this PhD-project is to design adsorptive processes for viscous process flows or process flows containing wide range of particles (from dairy, chicory, tomato industry) including assessment of adsorptive materials. The technology for recovery of complex molecules from large process streams has to maintain functionality, use water and energy efficiently and be scalable. The focus will be on mass transfer for viscous process streams and design of a chromatographic unit operation. Modeling of mass transfer phenomena and simulation of optimal operation will be an important part of the envisioned work. The results should be applicable for specific cases of the industrial partners.

Description

MSc in Chemical Engineering or Food Process Engineering, or a similar study Experience with process design and simulation using separation technologies with agro-food materials for food purposes Affinity with food processing on industrial scale and its economic aspects Able to find a balance in industrial needs and scientific challenges Education and/or relevant work experience Fluent in English and good communication skills Comfortable with working in a multidisciplinary team.

We offer you a temporary position for a period of 1.5 years with extension of 2.5 years after successful evaluation. Gross salary per month € 2083,- in the first year rising up to € 2664,- per month in the fourth year.
