We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join Professor Torr’s new research group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is funded by the Leverhulme trust and is fixed-term for 13 months for as soon as possible after 1 October 2014.

The topic of the research is natural language description of scenes and will involve elements of machine learning, natural language processing and computer vision. There will be a particular emphasis on developing this technology so that it might be useful in assistive technologies for the blind and partially sighted. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of novel computer vision and learning algorithms to automate natural language descriptions of scenes. You will also be responsible for preparing research reports and presentations and documenting software.

We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join Professor Torr’s new research group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is funded by EU advanced investigator award and is fixed-term for 2 years from 1 November 2014. The group is an internationally leading research group that has numerous scientific awards and has close links with some of the top industrial research labs.

The topic of the research is semantic scene segmentation and SLAM, following on from the group’s recent research in this area. You will be responsible for the development of the theory and implementation of novel computer vision and learning algorithms to on this topic. You will also be responsible for preparing research reports and presentations and documenting software.
