CECE Technical Policy Manager

CECE, the trade association of the construction equipment industry in Europe. is looking for a technical policy manager (m/v) to reinforce the team in Brussels.

CECE (the Committee for European Construction Equipment) promotes the views of 15 national sector associations and their members towards the EU institutions, and works with other organizations worldwide to achieve a fair, competitive regulatory environment via harmonized standards and regulations. CECE holds office in Brussels. The European construction equipment industry consists of around 1200 companies and employs 130.000 persons directly, with the same number in sales and services.

CECE shares office facilities in Brussels with VDMA. VDMA is one of the leading industry associations in Europe with headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany, and a strong presence in Brussels.

The CECE technical policy manager:

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Monitoring and analysing of EU legislation applicable to the machinery industry, in particular with regard to environmental requirements (exhaust emissions, CO2 emissions, resource efficiency); being the reference point for the CECE community in this field;
  • Managing multiple working groups, driving the process of consensus building and position taking within the association with the aim of timely influencing the decision-making processes; drafting position papers and other written communications, coordinating lobbying and other relevant actions;
  • Maintaining active relations with decision-making bodies at European and international level as well as with other industries and societal stakeholders to promote and defend the interests of the association’s members and the industry as a whole

Skills & competences

  • University degree, preferably in engineering or another technical discipline;
  • Experience within a company and/or within a trade association;
  • Good knowledge of the workings of the EU as well as of the laws and regulations applicable to the EU machinery industry or of closely related sectors and/or legislative dossiers;
  • Excellent level in English and proficiency in at least one other European language;
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, good writing skills;
  • Team worker; ability to motivate and coordinate diverse and multi-national groups of individuals; confident in managing complex issues;
  • Strategic and analytical thinker;
  • Self-starter, organised and decisive;
