The National Physical Laboratory are looking to appoint a talented Project Officer.

Job purpose

NPL occupies a unique position as the UK`s National Measurement Institute and sits at the intersection between scientific discovery and real world application. Its expertise and original research have underpinned quality of life, innovation and competitiveness for UK citizens and business for more than a century. 

NPL also hosts a management support unit for a European metrology research and development programme jointly funded by participating countries within EURAMET eV and the European Union. 

We are looking for a Project Officer who can provide management and support services for the coordination of this programme.

Key duties

The duties would include preparation of call documents; publication of calls; preparation of evaluation documents; organising evaluation; monitoring and reporting processes; and reporting to the European Commission.

Key skills and experience required

You should have a degree in science or engineering, plus experience of working in a scientific research environment and managing technical projects, preferably in the physical sciences. 

Experience of managing or commissioning projects under the EU Framework Programmes, or similar national schemes, would be a distinct advantage. Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. 

Interviews will be held in Teddington w/c 3rd and 10th November 2014.
