Being the first line business interface with customers and prospects, you define target markets and potential accounts, based on market knowledge and market intelligence. You generate leads within these market segments and discover opportunities for collaboration. You are key in maintaining and extending existing partnerships. You work in close cooperation with the program management and with the worldwide account managers to create high-value proposals and you follow-up this process until closure of a contract. You report to the Smart Systems business director in Leuven.
The Business Development Manager will be located in Leuven and be part of the Business Development team for the Smart Systems unit within imec. 

- You have good knowledge of the semiconductor and image sensor market and you will build and manage a portfolio of customers for the imec image sensor technologies. 
- Thanks to your knowledge of image sensor design and technologies, you are able to advise and promote to customers the most suitable imec solutions, in collaboration with the technical teams at imec.
- You prepare proposals to customers according to their needs in collaboration with the technical team, account management and Leuven Business Development team and you negotiate and finalize contracts.
- You demonstrate operational excellence, by taking actions, coordinating, communicating, driving and assisting decision processes and paying attention to detail. 
- You advise the program management regarding actions and (strategic) decisions on the research roadmap and you prepare and execute the yearly Go-To-Market plans for the image sensor technologies.
- You represent imec at external fairs and exhibitions where main companies and research entities meet one another. 

Profile
- You have a Master’s degree in Electronics, with strong knowledge in imaging. 
- You have minimum 3 years’ experience or more in sales and/or business development for advanced technology or systems. Experience in a technical-commercial function in a research or advanced development environment is a strong plus.
- Technical acquaintance and interest in cutting edge image sensor design and technologies are essential. You follow up on the latest evolutions in this field. You are capable of benchmarking and validating the value of imec’s solutions versus what is available elsewhere in the market.
- You are a strong communicator, very customer-oriented and diplomatic. You are able to extend your internal and external networks and to talk and confer on technical, legal and business related matters.
- You can adequately judge problem situations and opportunities, recognize priorities and act accordingly in a flexible manner.
- You enjoy regular traveling worldwide, travel percentage is approximately 10%-20%.
- You are fluent in English and willing to learn Dutch to a basic level.
