RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Food Security and Livelihood (FSL-PM) will be mainly responsible for the good implementation of the FSL program and/or any other future projects having FSL components. This program aims to support the most vulnerable people’s to improve their living conditions and enhance their resilience through an intervention aiming at alleviating consequences of livestock decapitalization, redistributing poultry and sheep, supporting animals’ health, and distributing agricultural inputs to the poorest farmers by providing seeds (wheat, barley and lentil) and required quantity of fertilizers.

The FSL-PM will work under the supervision of the Program Coordinatorand in link with the CBI/NFI Program Manager (CBI/NFI PM).

The FSL-PM position’s major objectives are to properly achieve the following global tasks:

  • Good implementation and quality of all aspects of the program (full project cycle approach) and if needed, he/she suggests adjustments to ensure the relevance of the intervention,

-Team management of all operational staff within the project

Objectives of the Position

  • To finalize the recruitment process of local staff according to the new organization chart
  • To manage 2 different teams: Food Security and Livelihood and M & E team.
  • To identify beneficiaries according to the SI criteria for Livestock and agriculture inputs distribution
  • To define work plan in line with security rules and in collaboration with other projects
  • To coordinate activities implementation with local stakeholders as well as with other PM of SI
  • To follow the situation and propose any further need arise and coordinate with program coordinator/ head of mission to propose other types of activities that can be done in terms of Food Security and Livelihood.
  • Organize monitoring and evaluation activities

Specific challenges for this position:to implement and improve the project methodology under a remote management process

PROFILE

Education:

-University degree possible in agriculture/ agronomy.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years working experience in agriculture with INGO specialized in humanitarian assistance and/or development
  • Strong experience in monitoring and evaluation systems and methodologies: selection of beneficiaries, identification of vulnerability, development and implementation of methodology and monitoring tool for emergency cash based shelter
  • Strong experience in team management and project cycle management
  • Previous experience in remote management is a plus
  • Experience in a volatile environment is preferred. The applicant needs to be willing to work in an ongoing and escalating violence environment

Skills

  • Knowledge in agriculture, livestock and natural resources management
  • Knowledge of Solidarités International rules, tools and procedures a previous experience with Solidarités International is a plus
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing work environment and possible volatile security situation,
  • Ability to mobilize a team ; leadership
  • Ability to manage a team remotely is a plus
  • Flexible as the mission is not stabilized
  • Communication with respect hierarchy
  • Knowledge of pack office for report, databases, maps, communication

Language

  • English : fluent with good writing capacities
  • Arabic: working knowledge would be an advantage
  • French: a plus

CONDITIONS

Salaried post: According to experience from 1600 euros gross per month, plus 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly, and a monthly Per Diem of 700 USD.

– Social and medical cover: Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which reimburses all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.

– Vacation: During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of one break every three months. For a one-year assignment, the expatriate will have a 7-day break during the 3rd and the 9th month (with 500 euros allocated by Solidarités). He or she will also be entitled to go back to his or her home country for a 14-day period after six months spent on the mission (Solidarités will cover travel costs).

During the assignment, the expatriate is entitled to R&R every three months: one week at three and nine months (with a 500 euro allowance) and two weeks at six months (with a plane ticket back home covered by Solidarités).
