IT Support Officer (Part-time, Fixed Term Position)

Eurocarers is the European network representing informal carers and their organisations, irrespective of the particular age or health need of the person they are caring for, with the aim of advancing their interests both at national and EU level.

Carers are people who provide care (usually unpaid) to someone with a chronic illness, disability or other long-lasting health or care need, outside a professional or formal employment framework.

Eurocarers is seeking a part-time web developer to further develop and fine-tune the INFORMCARE online platform, a WordPress-based information hub aiming to provide informal carers with the answers and advice they need to better perform and cope with their caregiving activities. This is a part-time (50%) and fixed-term position (7 months, from May to November 2015).

Job description

Overall tasks:

  • Providing first line technical support to users of the platform;
  • Ensuring all the platform tools are fully functional;
  • Diagnosing and solving potential bugs/technical problems of the platform;
  • Updating the software;
  • Managing the development and implementation of the 32 versions of the platform in the relevant languages (with help from external contributors);
  • Managing the areas in the platform addressed to care professional and employers;
  • Fine-tuning the graphic design of the platform;
  • Assisting in the integration of the platform in the Eurocarers’ main website;
  • Adopting search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) strategies in order to increase the visibility of the website.

Requirements

  • Sharing Eurocarers’ vision;
  • Fluency in English, both oral and written (knowledge of other EU languages is an asset);
  • Excellent knowledge of the most common web programming languages, among which: HTML 5, CSS, Javascript, JQuery, PHP, as well as DBMS MySQL, SQL, XML, LAMP development;
  • Excellent knowledge of the Wordpress platform to develop websites, of the SocialEngine platform to develop interactive services and of the plug in AVChat to implement video communication services;
  • Previous experience as web developer in international research projects;
  • Stress-resistant team player, able to work under pressure;
  • Highly organised in order to prioritise workload and meet strict deadlines;
  • Having the right to work in Brussels;
  • Being available to start on 18 May.
