Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (IF) - Postdoc position in 3D printing / printed electronics

• Unique opportunity to pioneer the application of 3D printing / printed electronics in unexplored domains
• Work at a leading scientific institution with dedicated professionals
• Offering outstanding career development and professional support
• An attractive remuneration package

The Centre for Surface Chemistry and Catalysis (part of KU Leuven - the University of Leuven) is looking for a highly motivated candidate to apply for a two-year Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship - Postdoc position in 3D printing / printed electronics. Together with the selected candidate a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship proposal will be written and submitted. The involvement of the selected candidate in the proposal writing process will provide ample opportunity to tailor the proposal to his / her research interests. A successful application will result in a two-year appointment.

Description

Context:
The Centre for Surface Chemistry and Catalysis constitutes an interdisciplinary team of seven professors focused on researching the chemistry of the solid-gas, solid-liquid, and solid-solid interphases. The Centre currently hosts over 120 PhD students, postdoctoral scholars and technicians and is internationally recognized for its expertise in gas and liquid phase catalysis, porous materials synthesis and characterization, adsorptive separations, and related challenges in chemistry and chemical engineering. For more information on the professor leading this project, including previous publications in top journals such as Nature Chemistry, Advanced Materials, Angewandte Chemie, etc, please refer to the following websites: www.researchgate.net/profile/Rob_Ameloot/ or scholar.google.com/citations

The development of 3D printing and related additive manufacturing technologies have recently gained momentum in a spectacular way. Based on a computer model, these printing tools enable the direct and automated fabrication of a real-world object with an arbitrarily complex geometry, not accessible via conventional machining. Similarly, printed conductors enable the flexible digital fabrication of electronic circuits. The goal of this project is to explore the opportunities at the interface of chemistry and engineering related to inkjet-based 3D and electronics printing.

Timeline:
The deadline for applying for this opportunity is July 10, 2015. Together with the selected candidate, a proposal will be submitted by September 10, 2015. The results of this application round will be announced at the latest on February 9, 2016. If successful, a starting date will be picked between March 1, 2016 and April 30, 2017 in agreement with the candidate. The appointment will last for two years.
