PhD Studentship – Materials processing using electromagnetic field

Open University - Engineering and Innovation

This PhD project will be concerned with the structural response of materials in electromagnetic field. The purpose of the research is to study the materials-electromagnetic field relationship and to implement the scientific principle to solve the environmental problems. One of such problems is to remove detrimental elements from liquid, which is important in materials recycling and waste treatment. This research group has a strong track record in the topic. The recent results have been published in some world leading journals such as Scientific Reports. A highlight of similar research can be found in the news in Materials World, Vol.21, Issue 3, Page 19 (2013)

You will have immense patience on creative research, a strong scientific background in materials, physics or closely related subjects. Good mathematics and electrodynamics knowledge will be a bonus. You will be expected to participate in project events and activities as appropriate.

Full time – 3 years to start in October 2015

Approximate stipend of £13,863, tuition fee are covered
