The Position
The FinEst Twins project creates a business model and a scientific and innovation roadmap for establishing a Smart City Centre of Excellence between Estonia and Helsinki region in Finland. The centre will be based in Tallinn. It will showcase the area’s smart city research, innovative services and products, and build co-operation and partnerships between Helsinki and Estonia.

The term ‘Smart City’ refers to new technologies and innovation improving the performance of cities and making the everyday life of citizens easier. Key 'smart' sectors include living, transport and environment.

Aalto University will be responsible of planning the research cooperation in the project. Forum Virium Helsinki’s role is to draw plans for innovation cooperation. The Science and Innovation Specialist is responsible for defining the Scientific & Innovation programme for the CoE. The work is carried out from the EIT ICT Labs Helsinki Co-Location Centre in Otaniemi in close collaboration with the other partners of the project: Forum Virium Helsinki, Tallinn University of Technology and the Estonian Ministry of Economics and Communications. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and writing the Scientific and Innovation programme for the Centre of Excellence
  • Recruitment of academic partners to the CoE
  • Project coordination at EIT ICT Labs Helsinki / Aalto University

Qualifications

  • Experience in the field of smart cities, especially smart living, smart mobility and smart environment
  • Experience in working in European collaboration projects
  • Good communication skills
  • A relevant doctoral degree
  • A minimum of six years of post-graduate research experience
  • Excellent spoken and written skills in English
