Python Application Developer

You will work in a small and loosely coupled team of engineers and scientists and will help to develop and refine the overall software architecture, integrate state of the art scientific models into the framework, design and implement user interfaces and perform software tests and model validations. The working languages at the SED are German and English.

We are expecting a Bachelor or higher degree in computer science, or equivalent education • Alternatively, a background in natural science with a strong past focus on software development • Experience with application development in Python in an agile UNIX/Linux based FOSS Environment • Strong code hygiene, familiarity with design patterns in software development, experience with version control systems and agile Workflows • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary environment at the boundary between science, IT and software development • Additional preferred qualifications: experience with GUI development based on Qt, QGis, database technologies, ORM tools, parallel computing and knowledge of Matlab, R and other programming languages. • The position is for two to three years with the possibility of extension.
