Senior Engineer - Interior Trim

JOB PURPOSE

Support Lead engineer and PMST Leader in the design, development & release of Interior Trim components.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

  • Preparation of detailed drawings to AML drafting standards including identification of SC’s/CC’s, reference points and individual part tolerances;
  • CAD literate with the ability to design and model interior trim components;
  • Create & update construction sections to support design reviews;
  • Work within FMA checklist process;
  • Use digibuck to review and present design concepts;
  • Preparation and ownership of engineering release packs where required;
  • Work under the direction of lead project engineer/PMST leader on a day to day basis;
  • Support Project Engineer in the development of robust designs to meet performance targets;
  • Support pre-production build events;
  • Support virtual build events;
  • Support tolerance studies to ensure manufacturing compatibility;
  • Support generation of DVP and DFMEA studies;
  • Support pre-release failure mode detection event activities;
  • Ownership of concerns resolution including interim containment actions where required;
  • Liaison with external suppliers on technical issues;
  • Liaison with internal departments as required;
  • Preparation of commodity plans for specific owned systems.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Engineering degree level or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of interior trim components, Carpets, plastic injection moulding components, Vac formed parts, machined metal products and metal bracketry. Knowledge of leather trimming and mechanism systems would also be advantageous;
  • A working knowledge of component manufacturing, tooling requirements & lead times;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Knowledge of Automotive Programme Management processes and systems;
  • CAD experience and user with a minimum of 5 years’ experience;
  • Self-starting and self-motivated;
  • Ability to work under pressure to agreed deadlines;
