FGT ENGINEER

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develop the knowledge needed to translate laboratory data into commercial operations (scale-up);
  • Provide technical support to trial teams and to customers for troubleshooting;
  • Contribute to structured R&D by use of project management methodology in the creative and innovative new product development;
  • Collaborate in the cross-fertilization of knowledge and know-how between the different stakeholders and business units of Lhoist;
  • Contribute to the improvements of products, processes and applications;
  • Translate findings from industrial customer trials into process engineering models and identify gaps and needs;
  • Guide the R&D testing team in execution and set-up of performance tests to deepen our know-how and to develop new products and applications;
  • Adhere to as well as share a “safety first” attitude, whether within or outside of Lhoist;
  • Act as an informal source of information for colleagues with less experience, guide and support junior staff

REQUIREMENTS

Years of experience: 

10 +

Language skills: 

English (any other language is an asset)

Competences and attitudes: 

  • PhD or MSc in Chemical Engineering;
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the process industry;
  • Chemical reactor engineering and/or kinetic modelling;
  • Pragmatic engineering skills;
  • Familiar with process scale-up / scale-down;
  • Experience with execution of customer or manufacturing technical trials;
  • Background in catalysis, inorganic chemistry, and flue gas treatment applications;
  • IT Literate (e.g. Matlab, Athena, Comsol, Design Expert);
  • Solid knowledge on FGT processes including fundamental understanding;
  • Creative with strong drive to understand and improve practices;
  • Autonomous and pro-active team player;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent project management skills;
  • Good people management and leadership skills;
  • Fluent English – any other languages is an asset;
  • Eager to travel world wide
