Postdoctoral position in biomedical optics at Medical University of Vienna

A position for a postdoctoral scientist is available at the Center for Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering at the Medical University of Vienna (MUW).

Description

A position for a postdoctoral scientist is available at the Center for Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering at the Medical University of Vienna (MUW). The position is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) project OPTIMALZ. OPTIMALZ aims to develop and apply optical imaging of ocular pathology in Alzheimer’s disease.
The successful candidate will develop microscopic imaging methods comprising optical coherence tomography and fluorescence imaging for the assessment of ocular and cerebral pathology. He/she will work in a multidisciplinary team covering expertise in physics, computer science, medicine, biology, and veterinary medicine. Strong communication skills are a must. With a doctoral degree in physics, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering or similar, the candidate should bring theoretical and experimental experience in optics (microscopy, fluorescence, optical coherence tomography) which should be reflected in his/her publication record. Good programming skills (data acquisition, image processing) and experience in laboratory animal handling are a plus. Salary and benefits follow the rules and schemes of MUW.
Interested candidates are encouraged to apply by sending a single PDF including CV, list of publications, a short description of research experience and interests, and the contact details of three references.
