The School of Management at the University of Tampere invites applications for five fixed-term postdoctoral researcher positions for the period from August 1, 2015 to July 31, 2018.
The research carried out at the School of Management aims to reveal links in the dynamic interplay between contemporary politics, public administration and business in an increasingly globalized and rapidly changing society. The School of Management produces new knowledge based on scientific research and helps its partners find practical applications for the latest insights in the field. The main aim of the research is to question prevailing truths and to challenge our partners to reshape their practices with the help of scientific understanding.
The main task of the postdoctoral researcher will be to conduct high-quality research in accordance with his or her research plan. Postdoctoral researchers are also expected to contribute to the school’s activities for example through project planning and/or teaching. However, conducting research and producing high-quality publications is at the core of the postdoctoral researcher’s responsibilities.
In accordance with University of Tampere’s Regulations on Human Resources, a person appointed postdoctoral researcher must hold an appropriate doctoral degree and be able to pursue scientific research independently as well as have the instructional skills needed in the position. We expect candidates to have proven ability to publish in international scientific journals, strong analytical and methodological skills as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research community. The candidate’s research topic should fall within the research areas of the School of Management. If the candidate’s research plan takes a cross-disciplinary or multidisciplinary perspective on the School of Management’s research themes, this will count as an advantage.
The salary will be based on job requirement levels 5 to 6 on the salary scale for teaching and research staff according to the salary system for Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance.
The employment contract will include a 4 month trial period.
