The Neural Control of Movement Laboratory (NCM) in the Department of Health Sciences and Technology (D-HEST) of ETH Zurich has an opening for a fully funded
PhD position in Human System’s Neuroscience
The goal of this project will be to gain better understanding of the neural basis of movement observation (or “motor resonance”) in humans. The applicant will primarily use eye tracking, brain stimulation (TMS) and brain imaging techniques (EEG, fMRI).
ETH offers an exciting, multidisciplinary research environment with a vibrant neuroscience community. Furthermore, there is access to excellent technical facilities including a research-dedicated 3T MR scanner and laboratories for electroencephalography (EEG), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and transcranial direct current stimulations (tDCS).
Employment is expected to begin in the second half of 2015 and international applicants are welcome.
A successful applicant will have, or is expected to soon receive a Master’s degree in one of the following disciplines: Neuroscience, Psychology, Biology, Biomedical Engineering or Health Sciences and Technology. Proficiency in English and the ability to communicate with collaborators across a range of disciplines will be required. Prior experience in signal processing and data analysis in MATLAB or similar high-level language is also necessary. Above all, candidates should be enthusiastic with a strong willingness to learn new skills.
