Assigned to a field construction organization in a supervisory or managerial position. Responsible for the organization and direction of construction and related activities within assigned area of responsibility, which may be a single area, multi-area or a multi- discipline construction project. May be the primary client contact for all jobsite activities, or may coordinate with client’s resident representatives on jobsite activities within assigned area of operations. Responsibilities are to ensure assigned jobsite operations are in compliance with design/specifications, completion on schedule, within budget and to quality standards.

On a large project, coordinates and directs construction installation activities of the project. Directs the lead personnel of the operating section, i.e., Construction Engineering, Quality Control and Supervision. Provides on-site Bechtel representation to client personnel.

CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

  • Review the preparation of the Project Execution Plan.
  • Responsible for jobsite operations, as assigned, including all on site activities of the Contractor, subcontractors, suppliers, clients and their representatives.
  • Responsible to review the field manpower organization and insure the Contractor provides qualified and knowledgeable personnel and to direct their effective use.
  • Work with the Project Manager, Project Engineer and Procurement Manager harmoniously to deliver the project as-sold or better.
  • Establish, coordinate and implement project schedule charts and material and equipment requirements.
  • Oversee jobsite expenditures in assigned area for equipment, material and services and ensure that field operations are within budget. Implement safety programs and monitor strict adherence to applicable safety codes.
  • Insure the Contractor implements progressive training to enable personnel to assume additional responsibilities.
  • Implement Six Sigma initiatives as required.
  • Management and commitment to Bechtel Zero Accident Safety Philosophy operating Gas Plant Services experience a plus.
  • Experience in the managing of international construction subcontractors. Experience on 500 (M+) projects.
  • Knowledgeable in Industry Construction methods and procedure.
  • An advanced knowledge of environmental, safety and health is essential. Proven safety record.
  • Proven record of consistently meeting Quality, Construction and Schedule goals.
  • Proven leadership skills in managing a diverse multi-national workforce. The Construction Manager will be responsible for contract coordination, cost and the ability to analyze job safety. This position requires excellent communication skills coupled with a strong technical background and/or craft experience in all civil installation, piping and mechanical equipment installation methods and relevant code requirements. He or she will have direct responsibility for customer satisfaction and project profitability. He or she will be responsible to insure that there is adequate progress and performance monitoring and work with the site management team to develop and maintain the site construction schedule.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work activities on the project.
  • Optimize the use of construction equipment and tools on the project Supervise layout, construction and maintenance of temporary facilities on the project.
  • Provide constructability suggestions and input.
  • Provide leadership for the safety, accident prevention and fire prevention programs on the project which include: safety orientation of new employees, prepare safety procedures and monitor Bechtel and subcontractor safety meeting, inspect the site for unsafe conditions and practices and take appropriate corrective action to correct all observed problems, monitor weekly tool box safety meetings.

Basic requirements:

  • Shall have contract management experience
  • Shall have experience craft supervision or Discipline
  • Related Engineering degree and related work experience
  • Shall have experience in Oil, Gas and Chemicals or heavy industrial construction.
  • Shall have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Shall have a basic level of computer proficiency.
  • Shall also have experience in generating and maintaining resource loaded schedules: determining manpower, material, equipment and tool requirements and supervising contract and administrative employees. Must have the ability to work closely in multiple disciplines with field engineers and other Coordinators.
  • Shall have current working knowledge of welding procedures, process and requirements.
  • Shall also have working knowledge of Piping and associated equipment installation methods.

Preferred qualification

Six Sigma yellow belt or other Six Sigma preferred.
